Dr. Nils Graber is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Chair for the History of Science at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Previously, he held positions at the University of Lausanne at the Laboratory for the Social Studies of Science, the Center for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisanté), and the Institute for Higher Education in Health (IUFRS). He holds a PhD from the research centre Cermes3 at EHESS in Paris.
Situated at the intersection of history of science, STS, and medical anthropology, his research has examined the epistemic regimes of immuno-oncology, the globalization of bio-pharmaceuticals, patient's experiences of experimental care, and the organization of primary health care in relation to oncology and COVID-19. His previous research includes fieldwork experience with an interdisciplinary collaborative approach in Cuba, Switzerland, and Brazil.
As part of the SocMed research project, Nils is investigating the relationship between the socialist countries of COMECON in cancer research and pharmaceuticals between the 1970s and 1990s. His work also explores how this socialist network connected to the WHO and influenced international cancer research and policies in this period.
Nils Graber is also an associate member of the PrimaCoba project "Primary Care facing the COVID-19 pandemic in Cuba: Spatial Differences, Social Vulnerabilities, Experiences, and Lessons at a Global Level", funded by the French Research Agency (ANR) and based at both the University of Strasbourg and the Center for Population and Development (CEPED) in Paris.
