Please join us to the presentation of our colleague Frédéric Keck’s book on Wednesday 24 September 2025, 14:30, in collaboration with the Centre Marc Bloch
Frédéric Keck | Solidarity Between Species – Living with Animals Exposed to Pandemic Viruses 24 September 2025 | 14:30 | Salle Tillion, Centre Marc Bloch
In this work, Frédéric Keck examines how the Covid-19 pandemic can be understood as a biopolitical crisis, underlining a fact often overlooked: Covid-19 is a zoonosis, a disease transmissible between species. The book retraces two centuries of epidemic control measures, introduces the concept of cryopolitics, and explores the emancipatory potential of interspecies solidarity—animals as sentinels of future threats, from pandemics to climate change. This presentation will be an opportunity to discuss how new forms of cooperation and political imagination emerge in the age of pandemic viruses.
Frédéric Keck is Research Director at the Laboratory of Social Anthropology at CNRS–Collège de France–EHESS and associate researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch.
The discussion will be chaired by Josemaría Becerril Aceves (EHESS).
